Dr. Limbos and colleauges have had their symposium entitled: "Autism Spectrum Disorder: Screening/Diagnosis & Management of Psychiatric & Physical Co-Morbidities" accepted for presentation at the annual Family Medicine Forum conference. The conference takes place in Toronto November 14-17, 2012. The symposium will help family physicians understand issues in screening for and diagnosis of autism and autism spectrum disorders.

Dr. Limbos will present a parent training/support seminar for the Learning Disabilities Association of Vancouver on Monday April 16 at 7pm-8pm. The seminar is entitled: "Demistifying Psycho-Educational Assessment" and will help parents understand and interpret the findings of psychological assessments. Dr. Limbos will be presenting the findings of her survey of developmental screening practices among Canadian primary care providers on Wednesday July 11, 2012. The poster is being presented at the International Association for the Scientific Study of Intellectual Disabilities World Conference in Halifax, Nova Scotia. ... moreBC Children's Hospital 2011 Telethon Projects Competition has accepted Dr. Limbos' letter of intent for a grant application entitled: Screening for Developmental Delays in Primary Care Settings in British Columbia – "A Survey of Knowledge, Attitudes and Practices". This opens the door for a full grant application for funding for this important research on child developmental screening. The full grant submission is due October 11, 2011 and results of the full competition will be available in November, 2011.

Survey of Screening for Developmental Delays in Children - A Canadian Primary Care Perspective has been approved by the University of British Columbia Research Behavioral Research Ethics Board (effective July 18, 2011). This research, led by Vancouver psychologist Dr. Marjolaine Limbos, will explore current practices, attitudes, knowledge, beliefs and barriers to developmental screening among family phyisicians and pediatricians in Canada.

Dr. Limbos' research on screening for developmental disabilities entitled: Comparison of the ASQ and PEDS in Screening for Developmental Delay in Children Presenting for Primary Care is set to be published in September. The study compared the accuracy of two screening measures, the ASQ and PEDS in a cohort of 334 children under the age of 5. The findings demonstrated that the ASQ and to a lesser extent the PEDS had reasonable test characteristics for developmental screening in primary care.
